He never looked quite right as a child.He was small, thin, pale. He had a trick knee, psoriasis, postnasal drip. There was no comb, lotion, or prayer in this world that would get his hair to lie down flat.He read to many books. He was unduly fascinated by carnivals, buried treasure, and mariachi music.

When he grew up, he became a rough, tender, melancholic, thoroughly experimental, lounge-singing, piano-playing, reclusive hobo in a seven-dollar suit and an old man's hat. He is Tom Waits


On of his greatest album, 'Orphans' is divided into three discs. Orphans - Brawlers, Bawlers, and Bastards and it contains songs for all occasions. Some of the songs were written in turmoil and recorded at night in a moving car, others were written in hotel rooms and recorded in Hollywood during big conflamas.Waits’ lyrics are unsurprisingly and deservingly the focal point of each song. He manages to give each track its own personality, and they all shine. An interesting thing about the album is the division of styles. Usually, Tom Waits albums pull you every which way; as he furiously growls about demons and hell in one track, on the next sings a beautiful lament to his broken heart.

Glitter and Doom is the latest Tom Waits CD, a double live-disc, the album is a collective of performances on the tour, mostly from the European stops, and proves that the music of this character chameleon is just as surreal and bizarrely seductive live as it is on record.

Tom Waits is a living, breathing spectacle. It seems that everything he does, from interviews to music to film, permeates the air with a scent of fascination.
