An Australian prolific songwriter, poet, author, singer, screenwriter and occasional actor, Nick Cave is a rare kind of creative force nowadays. A musician extraordinaire, Cave formed and fronted The Bad Seeds, the band is best known for his angry, twisted timelessly grave ballad-like lyrics.
For years now, Nick Cave has been teaming up with Warren Ellis, his swamp creature-looking sidekick in the Bad Seeds, together they scored 'The Assassination of Jesse James' and 'The Road','The Proposition'.
Cave's career extends into the literary and film arenas as well with the novels And the Ass Saw the Angel and the screenplay for The Proposition, his latest book The Death of Bunny Munro is about a sex-crazed beauty-product salesman, as he slowly breaks down after his wife’s suicide, he embarks on an aimless and desperate road trip with his nine-year-old son. Bunny progressively erodes any sympathy we might have for him, and yet he’s somehow still fascinating.
Cave has also adapted the novel into an audio book filled with haunting, beautiful music that he composed with his band mate Warren Ellis. You can listen to the first 4 chapters here: http://www.thedeathofbunnymunro.com
